- Wash and soak the chana dal in water overnight. In a bowl, mix the urad dal flour and rice flour. Add 1/2 cup water and mix well to make a thick batter. Cover and let it ferment overnight. Drain the soaked chana dal and grind with grated ginger to a coarse paste using little water. Add the fermented batter and the chana dal paste to a bowl. Add salt & turmeric powder along with grated carrot & cucumber, 1 tsp of oil, & lemon juice..
